Miyazato Ei Ichi Sensei, founder of Jundokan Gou-ryu is born July 5, 1922. Miyagi An Ichi (no relation), Higaonna Morio and Chinen Teruo all obtained their dan rankings from Miyazato Sensei.

Funakoshi Sensei returns to Tokyo where he works as a school teacher and opens a Karate dojo naming it Shotokan.

Shinzato Jin an Sensei, one of Miyagi Sensei s top students attends a martial arts convention in Tokyo. Naha-Te is named Hanko-ryu when asked the name of the nameless style. Hanko-ryu translates to Half Hard Style. Master Miyagi is pleased with the name but refines it to Goju-ryu from the Chinese text The Bubishi (The Kempo Haku).

Goju-ryu is officially registered under the Dai Nippon Butokukai as a style. Karate is an official art.

Miyagi Sensei travels to Hawaii to introduce Goju-ryu in April 1934.

Miyagi Sensei returns to Okinawa in February 1935 and is invited by Yamaguchi Sensei to demonstrate Goju-ryu in Japan a second time.
